The Terence Soall Commission
In January 2007 Robert Devcic Director and Founder of
GV Art (http://www.gvart.co.uk) commissioned
Rachel to create a painting about the much respected actor Terence Soall.
A battered wooden trunk arrived at Rachel's studio crammed with, papers,
photos, letters, souvenirs and memorabilia relating to Terence Soall's
life and a year long adventure began.

From that starting point an exciting relationship unfolded.
Rachel had not had the good fortune to meet Terry while he was alive but
during 2007 Rachel unraveled all the wonderful aspects that characterized
Terence's personality enabling her to create a rich theatrical painting
enbedded with personal items and detail that are so much a characteristic
of Rachel's work. Reading through the hundreds of letters that Terry wrote
during his life to friends and family, and from photographs and the diaries
Terry kept throughout his life as a journalist, actor and amateur artist,
Rachel came to admire Terence enormously and feels very privileged to
have been able to get to know such a remarkable man.

This has been one of the most exciting commissions
Rachel has worked on and she feels very honored to have been able to create
an artistic legacy of the special person that Terence became to all his
many friends, family and admirers.
The painting was unveiled in front of an audience
of friends and family at the Westminster and Chelsea Hospital
on the 21st february 2008.
