Starting Line

Starting Line
Taking their inspiration from the spirit and vision
of Paralympic Athletes and celebrating Stoke Mandeville as the birth place
of the Paralympic Games, Starting Line builds a dynamic universal performance
collaboration between disabled and non disabled young people from around
the globe, spinally injured young people from Stoke Mandeville Hospital
and Rachel Gadsden (visual artist) Luke Pell (performance maker) Abigail
Norris (film maker) and emerging young British dancers.
Artistic Director Ryan Laight will lead an extraordinary triumphant outdoor
spectacular visual art/dance/film performance at Aylesbury Town Sq on
the 28th August to coincide with the Paralympic Torch’s journey,
as it travels from Stoke Mandeville to the London 2012 Opening Paralympic
Ceremony.
In April 2011 Gadsden was awarded this New Outdoor Commission
by Accentuate, and working in Partnership with Creative
Junction, Rachel and the creative team are collaborating with young people
from the UK and abroad to develop a stunning outdoor performance piece
which will form part of the Paralympic Torch celebrations.
