Ethiopia 2009

"I undertook a long planned
journey to Ethiopia in July 2009, to walk with the indigenous tribal
people of the Southern Omo Valley.
I spent my childhood
surrounded by a desert - I lived in the Middle East until I was 20 -
and it is from a similar landscape, the Omo Valley, that my most recent
work emerges, a place where I seem to gain a greater sense of self,
where memory and the present come together in what becomes for me a
charged artistic vision."
Rachel's Exhibition The
Land of the Sacred Ibis will take place in London at the
end of November and will highlight paintings and drawings relating to
her experience of this extraordinarily visually vibrant country and
it's people.
